Virgin Blue credited for passenger increase
Friday August 31, 2007
Passengers to Fiji have increased by three per cent since Virgin Blue's entry into the market, travel website e-Travel Blackboard quotes Air Pacific chief, John Campbell as saying.
Virgin Blue added 23 per cent additional capacity on the Australia - Fiji route, and currently holds 25 per cent stake of the total traffic between the two countries, it was revealed.
''Given the lack of growth in the total market it follows that Virgin's tactics of using price to remove market share have been effective and Air Pacific has been impacted as a consequence of this,'' Campbell said of Virgin Blue's operations in the Pacific.
Recently, Virgin Blue has revealed an increase of profits from its Samoa operations and has announced the launch of domestic flights within New Zealand, according to the website.
