Top cop wants contract reviewed
Friday September 07, 2007

Fiji’s Police Commissioner Commodore Esala Teleni has asked the interim Government to review his work contract.

This, just four months after taking up office.

Commodore Teleni said compared to what his predecessors were earning as Police Commissioner, he was not happy with the terms and conditions of his contract.

Teleni said the issue is personal, and that he has written to his line minister, the Interim Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama.

While Teleni is arguing why he can’t be paid the same salary like his predecessor, he is reluctant to reveal how much he's requesting.

He has yet to receive a reply from the Constitutional Offices Commission (appointing authority) or the Interim PM.
