Qarase insignificant, can travel: interim PM
Thursday August 30, 2007

Interim PM Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama
Fiji's interim Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama says ousted Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase is playing the emotions of people by alleging that the military threatened to kill him if he arrived in Suva.

Bainimarama told Fijilive that no one can confirm the allegations he has made against the military.

He said Qarase can travel to Suva because he is insignificant.

"Like the military has said before, Qarase can travel anytime he wants because he is insignificant.

"He is playing the emotions of people," he said.

Qarase meanwhile says he has no proof that someone from the military called him and threatened to kill him if he came to Suva.

"He did not give a name just said that he was from the military," said Qarase.

He also alleges that the military had instructed Fiji's domestic airline Air Fiji not fly him over to Suva.
