Qarase has nothing to offer: interim PM
Monday September 03, 2007
Fiji's interim Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama says that ousted Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase has nothing to offer to the interim Government.
His comment comes after Qarase earlier said that he was willing to work with the interim administration led by Commodore Bainimarama to return the country to democratic rule.
Commodore Bainimarama told fijilive that Qarase, like former Soqosoqo Duavata ni Lewenivanua (SDL) senator, Na Turaga Na Qaranivalu, Ratu Inoke Takiveikata, has nothing to offer to the interim Government.
"When we offered an olive branch and wanted dialogues with Qarase for the last six years, he did not want to talk," he said.
"We are fighting against everything he stands for".
Commodore Bainimarama said people should not forget Qarase's "racist politics and actions".
"He (Qarase), just like the Qaranivalu, rejected the Peoples Charter for Building a Better Fiji which is a platform that ensures no more coup culture in Fiji and good governance" he said.
Qarase is expected to meet with some of his SDL officials today to discuss their next move.
