No comment on 14 declarations: Fa
Sunday September 02, 2007

The lawyer of deposed Prime Minister Tevita Fa will not comment on the counter litigation filed by the interim Attorney General's Chambers against his client Laisenia Qarase.

Fa said he would have to wait until the pretrial conference of Qarase's lawsuit against the December 5 takeover before commenting.

The interim Attorney General Aiyaz Sayid-Khaiyum is seeking 14 declarations that Qarase had failed in his duty to inform the President Ratu Josefa Iloilo on important matters as required under Section 104 of the Constitution.

Sayed-Khaiyum said an application has been also filed to consolidate these decelerations with that of the litigation Qarase has brought up against his removal in the High Court.

Fa said since the State is consolidating the 14 decelerations in the original Qarase litigation he needs to discuss the matter with them during the pretrial conference on September 11.

The trial proper begins on October 2.
