Thirty participants will show off culinary arts in a food preparation demonstration when the program gets under way at 10am.
Villagers of Lau, Bua, Cakaudrove, Nadroga and Vatulele will put their crafts on display and singer Saimoni Vuatalevu performs from noon to 3pm. The President, Ratu Josefa Iloilo, said at the launch of the Fiji Day celebrations on Friday, it was time to take stock of our blessings.
Fiji had much to celebrate given the freedom and liberty the country enjoyed, as it shared the same allegiance and lived under the same flag, he said.
"On every anniversary of our independence, we remember the handing over our governance to our leaders, towards a new social order that values inclusiveness.
"We look back and see hope in how we have tried to live up to these values. We celebrate today because we see signs of political, economic and social co-operation in our nation,"he said.
He said there was hope for greater appreciation of each other's values and contribution, which would dignify differences.
"I am proud to see that patriotism in this country is still a living faith.
"Every cultural tradition and ethnic background is respected and every religious belief is practised,"Ratu Josefa said.
