Fiji woman attacks woman, hacks off ear
Saturday October 07, 2006
A former Fiji resident has been remanded in custody by a Sydney court over an alleged attack in which another woman's ear was cut off.
Susan Samy, 26, is charged with wounding another person with intent to murder after a 49-year-old woman was allegedly attacked with two meat cleavers at her home in Yagoona, in Sydney's south-west yesterday.
Adelaide Now reports that there was no application for bail and Samy did not appear when her case was heard before Parramatta Bail Court.
Registrar Pam Olsen remanded Samy in custody and adjourned the case to Burwood Local Court on Monday.
Samy is also charged with two counts of sending documents threatening death or grievous bodily harm, two counts of using a carriage service to threaten to kill, stalking or intimidating with intent to cause fear or physical or mental harm, and maliciously wounding a person with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm.
Police said the alleged victim suffered major lacerations to the head, neck and shoulder and had her right ear cut off in the attack.
