FICAC resumes FDB and FHL probe
Thursday August 30, 2007
The Fiji Islands Commission Against Corruption has today resumed their investigations into the Fiji Development Bank (FDB) and Fiji Holding Limited (FHL) with officers dispatched to search their Suva offices.
The investigations were suspended in early July after the FDB prevented the release of confidential documents to FICAC investigators asking them to get a High Court order first.
However, FICAC's media liaison officer Loraini Seru said the anti-rot investigations have been given the "go ahead" to search the premises of the two organisations.
FICAC investigators had raided both the FDB and FHL simultaneously on June 29 following allegations against them.
While FICAC has not confirmed what these allegations are FHL chief executive officer Jaoji Koroi says FICAC's focus was on their shareholder base.
There are reports that FICAC is investigating the FDB's loan approval mechanism.
