Executives dispute shareholders meet
Sunday October 08, 2006
Ba Holdings Provincial Limited interim executives will appear before the High Court in Lautoka to challenge the legality of the decision made at a shareholders meeting two months ago.
Claiming a major conspiracy against some members, questions were raised as to how a provincial council meeting could be changed to a shareholders meeting.
The shareholders meeting was held on August 31 at Viseisei Village in Vuda, Lautoka.
Ba Holding's interim chief executive and Ba chief, Ratu Tevita Momoedonu told Fijilive.com that the High Court case will be heard before Justice Gwen Philips next Friday.
The matter has been adjourned five times as the court has given time to both parties to prepare their submissions and evidence for presentation.
Sacked board members of Ba Provincial Council Holdings Ltd filed an injunction challenging the provincial council meeting held in Vuda early August.
Some of the new board members in Ba Holdings are reported to be also on the board of Native Land Trust Board, which owns Vanua Development Corporation Ltd.
VDC owns 51 per cent of PacificConnex (PCX), which is also proposing to set up a mobile service in Fiji. The rest is owned by businessman, Ballu Khan.
Spokesman of Ba Holdings, Apolosi Bose claims that as soon as the new management moved in August, an accountant from rival company - PCX started doing a review of Ba Holdings Ltd financials.
