Emosi is first Hibiscus King

Mr. Pasifika FSMed, Emosi Ah-Ching, has been crowned the 2007 Lala’s Menswear Vodafone Hibiscus King at the 11-day long Hibiscus Festival that ends in Suva today.

For Emosi this years Hibiscus festival was a way of getting to know the Fijian culture as he is a Samoan student studying medicine in Suva.

“The best part of this contest was that I got to visit places like Namosi and seeing pure Fiji culture and it was an honour for me”, said Ah-Ching.

The Hibiscus King's message to the youth is to be humble and respectful “as one might never know where it would lead them”.

The first-runner-up in the Hibiscus King competition was Mr Brown Sugar, Apolosi Ranawai.

Mr. Radio Fiji Gold, Edward Bernard, was the second-runner-up.

The Hibiscus King contestants had to display their talents and go through two grueling public judging sessions apart from making regular public appearances.
