Army vows to keep eye on State
Monday October 09, 2006
Fiji's army commander Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama says the military will be watchdog of all Government policies from now on.
Bainimarama said someone needed to stand up and make a statement against government's corrupt practices.
"We're frustrated about what's happening in Fiji. We have been speaking out on all these issues but it seems no one is taking heed.
"So we've taken it on ourselves to be the watchdog of this nation," Commodore Bainimarama told a press conference this afternoon.
The PM has to listen to what the RFMF has to say, he said.
The army, Bainimarama added was tired of seeing people implicated in the 2000 coup formulating contentious Bills like the Qoliqoli Bill and the Reconciliation Bill.
