Army officers’ appointments secure
Wednesday August 15, 2007

Interim Foreign Affairs Minister Ratu Epeli Nailatikau says Colonel Pita Driti’s appointment as Fiji's High Commissioner to Malaysia is secured.

Ratu Epeli has assured that Fiji’s relationship with Malaysia and China is safe and people should stop worrying about the delay in Colonel Driti's appointment.

He said the same applies to military spokesman Major Leweni as Fiji's defence attach? to China.

He said paper work at the two high embassies is one of the reasons the appointments have been delayed.

“It’s up to them and they will look at it when they complete the process and will let us know.”

He said they have made their recommendations to the embassies which are still under scrutiny.

“We have submitted our requests and it is up to them. They won’t say anything until they are ready to deliver their verdict regarding our nominees,” Ratu Epeli said.
