New Orleans: Smithsonian Mag CultureFest (AP)

NEW ORLEANS - Smithsonian Magazine will host CultureFest Oct. 26-28 in New Orleans in partnership with the Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism.

CultureFest is one of the magazine's signature events, and typically draws several thousand visitors. It has previously been held in Minneapolis, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Santa Fe and Portland, Ore., among other locales.

The event will showcase the area's history, cuisine, arts and more.

Also in New Orleans that weekend will be the annual Voodoo Music Festival, with a lineup of performers that includes Rage Against the Machine, The Smashing Pumpkins, Sinead O'Connor, The Black Crowes, Toots and The Maytals, Dr. John, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Coheed and Cambria, and others.
