NEW YORK - The leaves haven't even changed color yet in parts of the country, but Ski Magazine's October issue has come out with its annual list of the top 10 resorts, with separate lists for ice warriors in the East and powder fiends in the West.

The lists are based on votes cast by 6,000 of the magazine's subscribers.
For the West, Vail, Colo., took the top spot, followed by Deer Valley, Utah; Snowmass, Colo.; Whistler/Blackcomb, British Columbia, Canada; Park City, Utah; Breckenridge, Colo.; Aspen, Colo.; Beaver Creek, Colo.; Steamboat, Colo.; and Sun Valley, Idaho.
In the East, the top 10, according to Ski Magazine readers, were Tremblant, Quebec, Canada; Smugglers Notch, Vt.,; Whiteface, Lake Placid, N.Y.; Killington, Vt.; Sugarloaf, Maine; Stowe, Vt.; Sunday River, Maine; Okemo, Vt.; Holiday Valley, N.Y., and Bretton Woods, N.H.
